curves & loops is a series of sculpted chairs it crosses the borders of sculpture and functionality and couples an archaic production method with playful design in a slow process, each chair is carved by hand out of a large tree trunk all twelve profiles of the series are a single, curvy, looping line that elegantly incorporates legs, seat and backrest they share their basic proportions - that are based on the golden section and my signature in the backrest   curves & loops is created with ecological considerations throughout: from sourcing locally grown trees, a low-tech manufacturing process, to using natural finishes irregular chainmarks create a subtly textured, sensual surface that gently contrasts the sleek, streamlined shapes knots, cracks, the seamless grain and other characteristics of the individual tree make each chair a living and unique functional sculpture curves & loops is available to comission in a choice of size, material and finish
